Established in November 2012 the Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) has proved itself as an inventive and progressive organisation run for local businesses by local businesses. The Norwich BID covers a defined area of the city where the team works to improve the trading environment and identifies additional projects and services that develop the city centre. Norwich BID enhances and promotes the local environment for its businesses, employees, customers and the community.
The BID will now raise £5m to spend over five years (November 2017 - October 2022), delivering a positive impact on the vitality of our city centre and the success of the businesses within it. The funds will be raised by an annual 1% levy on the rateable value of each and every business premises (over £30,000), in the extended Norwich BID area.
The overarching vision of Norwich BID is to make a clear positive impact on the vitality of our city centre and the success of the businesses within it. Norwich BID’s objectives are split into the following work strands:
It is clear to see the team has a huge passion and drive for the future of Norwich’s city centre through Norwich BID’s vast number of achievements since launching in November 2012. It is to the team’s credit that in year 2, Norwich BID was awarded “Highly Commended” at the ATCM’s Business Improvement District of the Year Awards.
Norwich BID is an extremely innovative organisation with many successful projects and initiatives being the first of their kind in the UK. Norwich BID is forward thinking and is continually looking to develop new and inspiring ventures which put Norwich ahead of other cities across the UK.
As we move into Term 2 of the BID (2017 - 2022) following a large yes vote, we are going to be bigger, bolder, and better then ever, improving our fine City for all!
