Norwich BID Achieves BCRP National Standards Accreditation

Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) has been awarded National Standards Accreditation for its Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) work.

Described as the “gold standard” by the National Association of Business Crime Partnerships (NABCP), “achieving the standard elevates BCRPs above and beyond other crime prevention and data sharing initiatives.” The National Standards accreditation is provided by Secured by Design, an official Police Security Initiative.

Business Improvement Districts achieve the Standard through assessment of their BCRP work across five key aspects – Governance; Benefits, Aims & Objectives; Communications; Systems & Protocols; Data Integrity.

The NABCP website goes on to state how: “The evidence must demonstrate the complex remit and varied scope of BCRP work, preventing business crime and enhancing community safety through real time information sharing, profile building, analysis of data and local community knowledge.

BCRPs contribute significantly to address national and local safety priorities through project work and initiatives with the people who work in our towns and cities across the UK, building strong community networks and utilising local knowledge to be united against crime, all of which must be evidenced to achieve the National Standard.”

On receiving the accreditation, Norwich BID Sustainability & Project Manager Michael Yates commented, “We’re proud to have received this National Standard in recognition of the BCRP work that we have undertaken. Thanks to our local businesses for being so proactively engaged in this initiative, to our partners at Norfolk Police, and to the NABCP for their guidance throughout the process.”
