A brief introduction to the Norwich BID’s annual crime conference.
Superintendent Patrick Holdaway, from the City of London Police, has led the National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) since December 2018. Prior to that Patrick was the business crime lead in Hampshire Constabulary where he spent 26 years before transferring to the City of London Police in 2021. The NBCC represents UK Police forces working in partnership with the business community to tackle crimes against businesses including retail crime. During his time at the NBCC Patrick has worked across policing and government to raise the issues that affect business, developing and sharing best practice and providing guidance through its dedicated website and social media channels. Recent work includes the Retail Crime Action Plan, Operation Portum, a nationally recognised safe spaces scheme which includes over 15,000 retail locations, and the Safer Business Action Days initiative, which brings together police, private security and retailers to tackle crime.
Stefano will introduce the new Retail Crime Strategy developed by Norfolk Constabulary
Inspector Jim Stevenson brings 23 years of policing experience to the Cyber Resilience Centre. Jim’s background in Neighbourhood Policing means he has spent years working with the police’s partner agencies to tackle long term problems in a variety of community settings. Jim’s experience has seen him work in a variety of fields from collaborative project work, complex crime investigations, community problem solving and schools’ outreach.
Michael Yates leads the team in ALERT, Norwich’s business crime reduction partnership. Last year, they launched the Norwich Exclusion Notice Scheme (NENS), working closely with Norfolk Constabulary to target local persistent offenders. Sophie is responsible for the day to day management of the NABCP, supporting and advising BCRP Managers by sharing best practice, policy and guidance on all issues relating to Business Crime Reduction, as well as representing their views at National level, with our valued partners in the Police, Home Office, Retailers, Security Companies and many more.
This panel will bring together the key themes from this morning’s event and provide an opportunity to ask any questions.
