Norwich Summer Sessions Kicks-off This Month

Norwich Summer Sessions returns for its 12th year, bringing an eclectic line-up of FREE live music and sensational street theatre right to the heart of the City of Stories.

Presented by Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) and Norfolk Community Arts (NORCA), Norwich Summer Sessions will captivate audiences across eight dates:

  • Friday 11 July | 5 – 8pm
  • Thursday 17, 24, 31 July | 4:15 – 8pm
  • Sunday 10, 17, 24, 31 August | 12:30 – 4:30pm

This year there will be an extra-special bonus session to kick-off the fun on Friday 11th July (5 – 8pm) as part of Norwich City Council’s Lord Mayor’s Weekend. Taking place on Hay Hill, the evening will feature music from local favourites Kitty Perrin, DJ Steve ‘Scratch’ Wurly, and Dumbfoundus.

From Thursday 17th July, the city will be buzzing with live entertainment between 4:15pm and 8pm; a great way to ease into the evening. Then, from Sunday 10th August, the atmosphere shifts, with performances running from 12:30pm to 4:30pm, perfect for afternoon strolls in the city.

Whether you’re enjoying a bite to eat, sipping something chilled in the sunshine, or browsing the high street, expect to be surprised by vibrant music and street theatre popping up throughout the city centre. With a dynamic mix of talent, the line-up promises plenty of wow factor.

There will be pop-up Norwich Summer Sessions stages at Hay Hill / Brigg Street, St Gregory’s Green, Gentleman’s Walk, and Westlegate. Performances are staggered across the various locations, giving visitors the opportunity to wander the city and soak up a rich variety of live music and street performance at every turn.

Sponsored by Kuoni, the Hay Hill / Brigg Street stage will play host to several of the region’s finest indie acts in Phoebe Troup, Alice Lily and Eliza Delf & the Wilderness, as well as the tremendously talented street performers Richard Handley and Kazuki.

The St Gregory’s Green stage, sponsored by Grosvenor Fish Bar, will provide the perfect setting for folk fans, with Tom Moore & Archie Churchill-Moss, Kitewing, and Hannah Scott among those performing.

Meanwhile, the Gentleman’s Walk stage sponsored by YALM will have a jazz, blues and roots focus; visitors will be treated to sets from acts including Nebula Sun, Beat Fiasco, 4D Jones, and the Vagaband, as well as the chance to enjoy Latin / Salsa dance lessons.

During the August dates, Westlegate will stage performances from musicians Pharmacists and Marmoset Quartet, in addition to providing a platform for new talent from Access Creative College and New Noise.
