Let’s Bring Paddington Bear to Norwich!
One lucky UK city will be given the opportunity to permanently host a brand-spanking-new Paddington Bear statue. But to be in with a chance, we need the help of Norwich-folk to get him here– be it by train, plane or automobile!
To help make the case on why Paddington should be located in Norwich (and not any other city), the competition organisers (STUDIOCANAL) have requested that as many people as possible send short email postcards saying why Paddington would be welcome in Norwich and what he could do once here.
We all love a Christmas miracle. And Christmas is all about giving, so please give your help to bring Paddington to Norwich in 2025. There are a 101 reasons Paddington will love Norwich so share your best bits and hidden gems, things to do and places to visit that Paddington could experience and write home about. But you have to be quick. Please email STUDIOCANAL no later than 23 December 2024. We know Paddington will adore Norwich! Just as much as you do.
Email info2@studiocanal2.com by Monday 23rd December with:
- A message to Paddington up to 100 words, telling him why Norwich would fit well for his next adventure.
- The Norwich location you’d like to see Paddington visit.
- Your name
- Your contact email address
In case you’re in need of a little inspiration, here are a few ideas on why Norwich would be Paddington’s perfect new home:
While in our wonderful UNESCO City of Literature, Paddington could visit the National Centre for Writing and write home a postcard from the centre’s courtyard garden- he might even want to pen a poem. Or follow our fun Book Bench Walking Trail, head to one of our many beautiful bookshops, or go to the library to read up on London, Lima and everywhere in-between.
Might his famous Wellington boots tread the iconic cobbled streets of Elm Hill – he might pop into The Bear Shop, or can you imagine spying his beloved blue duffle coat heading towards the cathedral or Norwich Castle? He may want to try a Bread Source cinnamon bun –the size of his face!
Without a doubt, he’d be keen to stop for a spot of afternoon tea, but where might he pick for his cuppa with the King? Would he try a delightful dollop of Colman’s Mustard in one of his beloved sandwiches, we wonder? Marmalade and mustard? That’s a new one!
Norwich is a city of sanctuary, known for being welcoming to strangers, and we’re sure Paddington would feel right at home here in no time! Maybe you’d give him a friendly hug inside The Forum, shake hands while out shopping at the Market, or take him for a lazy stroll through the Lanes?
