BID Breakfasts: The Norwich Solar System
Norwich BID Hosts Breakfast Meetings to Promote ‘Norwich Solar System’ Initiative for Business Rooftops
Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) is spearheading a new initiative aimed at boosting sustainability and energy efficiency across the city by encouraging businesses to install solar panels on their rooftops. The project, called the Norwich Solar System, was the focus of a recent series of breakfast meetings organised by the BID throughout October 2024.
The meetings were designed to inform local business owners and landlords about the benefits of solar energy, and invite them to become part of this exciting new local energy community.
Across four breakfast meetings, the BID team chatted with 70+ businesses over a casual coffee and a breakfast roll. The meetings provided a useful networking opportunity for businesses at different stages of their sustainability journey, as well as a platform to find out more about The Norwich Solar System. Following this, attendees were given an insight into the necessity for new energy sources for our city by the BID’s Sustainability Lead, Michael Yates. The benefits explained were two-fold with keeping overheads low discussed alongside reducing businesses environmental impact. The full presentation can be downloaded below.
We were pleased to be joined at our BID Breakfasts by our delivery partner, ConsensusPower. Consensus expanded on the community energy network model and were able to answer any additional questions raised by attendees.
Norwich BID were also pleased to welcome Angela Jefford from Natural Norfolk who gave a brief overview of the Norfolk & Suffolk Nature Recovery Strategy and asked for businesses to support in anyway they could to allow nature to thrive in our urban environment. This presentation can also be downloaded below.
